Six-year-old Moonee and her mother live in a budget motel outside of Disney World in Florida. Although they are poor and have plenty of worries, the summer vacation of Moonee and her friends is filled with childlike wonder, opportunity and a sense of adventure, while the adults struggle with difficult times. Willem Dafoe plays the motel manager Bobby who almost becomes like a father figure to his guests.
