Theme: Climate

Changes are coming.

We live in a rapidly changing world, also when it comes to our climate. Which changes that are natural and which are man-made, is a matter for many discussions.

But most people agree that changes are happening fast, and that we must adapt to survive. Here are some films that, each in it's own respect, is relevant for the debate.

The Beauty is a powerful and stunning short film reflecting on the theme waste in the ocean and what it is doing to our marine life.

2095. The world is ravaged by an environmental disaster. The oceans have risen and alle the natural fresh water has disappeared. Qeda tells the story of Fang Rung, who is in a race against time to save the world.

Water is a precious commodity also in Young Ones, where a dad is trying to create a future for himself and his kids, in this modern western.

Kvinne på krigsstien is an Icelandic film about a choir conductor who works to have the government remove power masts on the Icelandic tundra. The film won Nordic counsels film award, several awards at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, and was the Icelandic Oscar contribution in 2019.

Prinsesse Mononoke is a tribute to nature and an image of human efforts to fight deforestation. The film put Studio Ghibli on the international film map, and is a strong contribution to the climate fight. Also worth mentioning is the film gem Pom Poko, dealing with the same theme as Prinsesse Mononoke

In Et utfordrende år we join two reluctant, newly appointed climate activists. This French comedy is a caricature of the consumer society we live in, and questions our modern way of living and whether it is viable.
