The presidential election in the USA is approching, and two diametrically different candidates are participating. This year's election may possibly be one of the most eventful, turbulent and controversial in american history. 

However, American politics is far more than the chief position, something the participants in this documentary can all agree on. In President in Waiting, former US Vice Presidents are interviewed; those who rarely get attention, but must always be on standby. 

The documentary shows, through exclusive interviews with former government leaders, how the vice presidency went from seremonial position to a position of power. The documentary features such names as Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Joe Biden and Al Gore.
