Norwegian star director takes the leap to the US with his next film after “Kitchen Stories.” With Matt Dillon, Lili Taylor and Marisa Tomei on the casting list.
We meet Matt Dillon as Hank. He gets fired for the 100th time and checks into a cheap hotel. He drinks and writes. Novels, essays, and poetry come out at an astonishing pace. His script is submitted to publishers and magazines as quickly as they are rejected. Hank has had many women, but there is something special about Jan (Lili Taylor). They share the same enthusiasm for intoxication. Around Hank and Jan's turbulent life on the shadow side of American society, countless alcoholics, whores, and petty gamblers are circling. This is how Factotum begins, a black comedy about the author's vanishing life and his unruly but tender relationship with Jan.
