Single mother Maia lives in Montreal with her teenage daughter, Alex. On Christmas Eve, they receive an unexpected gift: a box filled with notebooks, tapes and photos that Maia sent to her best friend in 80s Beirut. Maia refuses to open the box and confront the memories, but Alex sneaks in to examine them. Alex dives into her mother's turbulent and passionate youth during the Lebanese civil war and uncovers the buried past.
However, this is by no means a war film. It is a passionate story about, not war - but love. After the war new beginnings are possible, and also building a new life after the old one is destroyed.
The film has been shown at several festivals, including the film festival in Bergen and Trondheim, and was the closing film for Arab Film Days in Oslo.
