Two injured criminals seek refuge in an old castle on a tidal island. The neurotic, middle-aged owner and his younger wife are taken hostage by the criminals, and the psychological game quickly develops into pure terror for the couple.

Roman Polanski's Cul-de-sac won the prestigious Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, and is a classic milestone in the genre of burglary thrillers.
