In the acclaimed Oscar-winning director Jean-Jacques Annaud's film adaptation of the bestseller Wolf Totem, a young student from Beijing is sent out to live among nomadic cattle herders in Inner Mongolia due to Mao Zedong's cultural revolution. The nomads are trapped between civilization from the south and their traditional enemies - the ravaging wolves - from the north. Both humans and animals, permanent residents and invaders are struggling to find their place in this world and preserve their lifestyle.
