The Golem

76 minutes 1920 7.2

In medieval Europe, Jews were persecuted and housed in slums in big cities. In one of Prague's ghettos, Rabbi Judah Loew sculptes a creature of clay and breathes life into it through a magical formula - Der golem, created to protect the Jewish population.

The Golem is one of the early examples of German expressionism and has had a major influence on the horror genre for over a hundred years now.
