Carson Phillips (John Travolta) is a former football star who now works as a private detective. He is particularly weak for cases with women in need. As so many times before, Phillips begins to investigate a case in which a woman has disappeared, but slowly the case turns out to be a tangled web of crimes, suspects and victims. When the daughter he has not seen in many years is suddenly identified as the main suspect, he fights against the clock to save her, solve the murder mysteries and uncover the city's dirty secrets.
