A Perfect Day
The locals try to take back everyday life, but the lands and roads are undermined and the wells poisoned. In this chaos, we meet a bunch of relief workers. “Aid Across Borders” has the most important task of cleaning wells so that the population gets clean drinking water. This is easier said than done when everyone suspects everything, the UN demands that the book be followed to the smallest detail and the locals try to earn something whereever they can.
An absurd comedy about something that really can't be joked about. The war in Bosnia is coming to an end. The country is in ruins and good neighbors have become bitter enemies. UN soldiers try to keep calm, but it is still murmuring beneath the surface. Old hatred has gained new nourishment.
A Perfect Day manages to be both fun and deeply cruel at once. In the roles, a stellar team shines with Tim Robbins (Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River), Benicio del Toro (Traffic, 21 Grams) and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) in the lead.
