Antoinette is a teacher, and has long been looking forward to her planned summer vacation with her secret lover Vladimir, the father of one of her students. When Antoinette finds out that Vladimir cannot join her on the trip because his wife has organized a hiking trip in the Cévennes Natioal Park with thier daughter and a packing mule, she decides to follow in their trail with Patrick the donkey.
