Adam receives 100 Spanish lessons as a gift from his husband Will. Teacher Cariño lives in Costa Rica and teaches classes from one room. He jumps around with his laptop between different places in a snobby shack on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Teacher and student get on well and their weekly talks are a welcome break from everyday life. When tragedy strikes to overturn Adam's life, Cariño overnight becomes his lifeline. Long-distance friendships deepen and become more complicated as contact becomes more frequent and conversations become increasingly confidential.
