Friday film // week 27

A film about the uncertain and vulnerable aspects of life.

This drama is a warm and direct reminder of how fragile we all are, and how important it is to embrace life.

Friday film: Look Both Ways

Meryl is heading home from her father's funeral when she is witness to a train accident where a man is killed. Andy recently broke up with his girlfriend only to learn that she is pregnant. These are some of the stories we get in the heartfilled and charming Look Both Ways from 2005.

The movie explores themes such as fate and chance, with an open invitation for the viewer to be unafraid in the uncertainty we all share. By flashbacks and small animated sections playing "worst-case" scenarios we as viewers are kept on our toes. We can never truely relax, same as life never stops.

The movie won four awards, among them Best Film at Australian Film Institute. Look Both Ways is Australian director Sarah Watt's signature film.
