Old lady Lolotta finds an abandoned baby in a small cabbage patch, and decides to take him to her home. She names him Totò. But years later, Lolotta unexpectedly passes away, and Totò is sent to an orphanage. Though Totò now has lost his family for a second time, it shows that Lolotta has raised him lovingly and well, when even all the loneliness in the world can’t discourage the young boy.
