Movie tips: The unthinkable
Midsummer with a twist.
Our Swedish neighbours have a strong tradition of celebrating midsummer's eve. But, where they usually decorate the midsummer-pole with flowers and prepare "smörgåstårta", the day appears very different in the movie Den blomstertid nu kommer.
The title is taken from an old Swedish psalm written in the 1600s: "Den blomstertid nå kommer / med lyst og glede stor". ("The heyday is arriving / with lust and great beauty"). But the title does in no way describe what happens in the movie.
In this dystopian action-drama mysterious attacks occur all over the country, the Internet is down and the alarm is sounding. Sweden is under attack by a foreign power.
The movie is directed by Swedish director Victor Danell (UFO Sweden, Gilla), who, in addition to directing, also writes scripts and creates special effects.
