A teacher with a great commitment.

This week's friday film is a heartfelt, engaging and occasionally funny film about the challenges facing sixth grade students at Jose Urbina Lopez primary school in Northern Mexico in their everyday life. When a new teacher arrives, something changes. And for some of them, it changes everything. 

Friday film: Radical

Sergio does things differently than his new colleagues. But then again, the school is in a very different neighbourhood. The children attending the school, grow up surrounded by poverty, corruption and drug trade, and their academic expectations are very low. They are already at the bottom of the national school surveys. 

But, where other teachers see an impossible task, Sergio makes an effort to find out what the students know, and wake them up to other ways of thinking. Can the idealistic teacher succeed with his new strategies? 

The film has won several prices, and is based on a true story.
