As a boy, prodigy Magnus Carlsen decided to become a world champion in the field of chess, and worked relentlessly to make it. Film maker Benjamin Ree followed the chess genius over a period of ten years, through success and adversity, on the road to becoming a world champion at the age of 22. The documentary gets up close, and is perceived as an honest and down-to-earth portrait of a unique young man.
