Two parallel love stories, one in the big city and the other in a small village. In each of the stories, the couples face a number of challenges related to abuse of power, traditions and superstitions from Iranian society. Director Jafar Panahi himself is at the center of both stories, as director and observer. Panahi once again excels in making a playful, humanistic and socially critical film in an almost impossible situation, as he has been banned from working as a director by the Iranian authorities since 2010. Panahi has until recently been in the notorious Evin prison in Tehran. He has now been released on bail.
No bears won the main prize Silver Mirror during last year's Film from the South and the Jury's special prize during the Venice Film Festival.
